March 2026 eNews – Get Your Facility Ready for Spring; New Grant Opportunity for Non-Profit Organizations

As the weather gets warmer, it is time to plan for spring. Here are a few tips to make sure your facility is ready:

1. 1. Schedule seasonal maintenance, such as Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) filter replacements and updates; water heater and furnace checks; gutter clearing; paint touch-ups; and roof inspections. More information about facility maintenance can be found here.

3. 2. Inspect and repair, replace, or rake playground surfacing as necessary. Heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles can damage many types of safety surfacing and can compact mulch so that it does not meet licensing requirements. Read more about safety surfacing in these Fast Facts.

5. 3. Aerate your lawn, cut back dead branches and plants, and ensure all lawn maintenance equipment (ex. lawn mowers, rakes, sprinklers, etc.) are in good working condition.
