City of Providence Early Learning Infrastructure Support Program Impact Report

Building upon the success of the first and second phas eof the City of Providence Early Learning Facilities Improvement Grants program, City of Providence Mayor Brett Smiley partnered with LISC’s RI Child Care and Early Learning Facilities Fund for a third phase to administer $1,975,000 for continued child care facility improvements. A total of $1,570,350 was allotted specifically for facility pass-through grants. Grants were available to Providence-based child care providers for the planning and renovation of physical space during the period of July 1, 2023 through September 19, 2025.


35 projects received funding, including 6 center-based programs and 29 home-based programs. The awards impacted nearly 20% of all child care seats in the city, with 997 seats improved or created.
